No Pain. No Gain

As a student many years back, Paulo did some odd jobs to help his parents sustain his schooling so as not to be too much burden to them; They were four then who were attending school at the same time.

He applied for a part-time job as an insurance agent on a commission basis. It was a very tedious work for He did a house-to-house selling as his lone strategy. Since internet and cellphones were unpopular and perhaps too costly yet that time, face-to-face selling was the only best option he had.

He was not really that lucky during the first several months for he had not closed any single account yet, something that made him decide quitting.

Until one day when He finally decided to give up the job. He was writing his resignation letter inside their school canteen when unknowingly someone was scouting him at the back.

"Quitting?", the woman said, "life is more about keeping your pace amidst tough challenges.

He did not know her. She probably was a parent to one of the students in his school. He did not mind her and continued scribbling. Then one of his professors passed by.

"Hey Paulo, What's up? Somebody told me that you are a working student now, keep it up kid.", He said smilingly.

He just smiled and went away to find another place where no one can disturb him, but his classmates saw him.

"'Hey dude, treat us for some meals, You're already working, right? Good for you. You are no longer burden to your family." He laughingly said."Just kidding. Keep it up bro."

Whatta? He was getting confused. If only these people knew his problem. But somewhat there words inspired him. He pondered things out and asked himself if he loved his work. It may be ridiculous but he replied to himself on the affirmative.

To him, being an insurance agent was not just a job but a good one. You have something good to offer with other people that can secure their life in the future.

Though it was not a regular salaried job, at least his income was not a fixed one and there was a potential of earning more than an office worker did that time. Why not give it another try?

For almost an hour of deep thinking, He finally convinced himself to continue and further face the challenges that his job awaited him.

For another months of zero sales, he continued, but making sure he studied well until a good fortune came when he began hitting a series of jackpots. He was able to convince a large company to get its employees a life and endowment insurance policies thru salary deduction scheme.

Then another one followed when a federation of cooperatives got insured thru him. He continued closing sales which became ordinary for him. The flow of money was really great and the promotion to high positions was fast.

More than a year of no sales, but because of love and interest in the job, He became determined to succeed at all costs. When a good luck came, everything changed for life was beginning to be comfortable.

Now, Paulo is running his own insurance corporation with his siblings as general managers.

Just like Paulo, we are sometimes weakened by the challenges that come our way- We may just be lacking of encouraging and inspiring words from other people around us. Success is really something to strive for which cannot be attained overnight with just a little effort.

A Blessing In Disguise

Sometimes, good deeds are not immediately rewarded; God has reserved a proper time to compensate them.

I was then in my sophomore year in high school when I tried to sell plastic bags at the Naga City Supermarket (Now Naga City People's Mall) primarily to augment my meager daily school allowance. My first attempt was really unsuccessful, but it was challenging and memorable.

To anticipate and take the chance of the large throng of market-goers, I woke up early. It was my first time to sell something and I was terribly nervous. I had to dispose the two dozens of medium sized plastic bags which I had to sell each at P1.00 inclusive of the 50 cents profit.

Timid and afraid to approach a customer, I was too awkward then and became speechless whenever there was already a customer in front of me. Unfortunately, I was not able to sell one.

While walking home regretful, I saw a woman whose pieces of grocery were scattered on the road. She was too weak to pick up her items for she was suffering from a certain ailment which I did not know then. She was grasping for breath; No one who passed by tried to help her.

Without any hesitation, I helped and gave her a piece of plastic bag which she requested for the purpose I did not bother knowing at all. Instead, I immediately picked up her dispersed commodities which some of them were already ran over by unmindful motorists. I still recovered pieces of fish, pork and chicken meat and several bundles of different kinds of leafy vegetables among others.

Feeling grateful for what I did, she thanked me a lot and offered to pay me for my service. I refused getting paid for it was voluntary on my part to help her in such pitiful situation. But deep inside, I wanted to.
Several years passed and I almost forgot my silly adventure as well as the incident.

One day, I was badly in need of money to settle my financial obligations - my car loan was almost 3 months overdue and my car might get repossessed by the bank, my credit card companies were already threatening to close my accounts, my telephone and cellphone bills were ballooning and also under threat of disconnection. My pocket was literally dry - not a single penny in it and worst, I had no one to borrow money from.

I was driving within the outskirt of the city to look for the client who inquired with me about a certain property in one of the high end subdivisions in Naga City. I pulled over to eat lunch in a carinderia nearby a school. Since I entered the place, an old woman had been staring at me. Then from behind a lady approached me and said that the woman, her grandmother, wanted to talk to me. Without any much ado, I yielded to her request.

"You know, You look like the boy many years ago who once helped me survive an impending death." Said the woman. " I am sure you are for I can feel it.

I could not believe what she said but I knew I had once helped someone many years ago. I just could not recognize her for she had grown too old. I became inquisitive then.

According to her, it was sometime July several years back when a severe asthma attacked her that almost caused her life if not of a piece of plastic bag which she used as an improvised gadget to relieve her from breathing difficulty. The boy who helped her and refused to get paid of his service was simply an angel in disguise.

The old woman was narrating the incident vividly and in complete details which were exactly how the incident happened. On that very day, I was reunited with the person I unknowingly helped in my lifetime.

I was indeed so lucky that day for she is the mother of the client I was looking for in that area. With her approval, her daughter did not hesitate to get the best property I offered to them. And my luck did not stop there for her other children abroad also bought properties in the same subdivision through me.

I thanked her a lot for being also a blessing in that time of my great need. I told her that she had just solved my great financial burden that time.
"I am just giving you the fruit of your kindness", she replied. " You were once a blessing to me, now I am to you."

Indeed, our kindness and generosity to other people are rewarded sometime in our life whether we like or expect it or not. It may not come instantly in many different possible ways, but it will do - oftentimes during the moment we need it most.

Second Chance

Who said miracles don't happen?

“Two weeks in a coma, brain bleed, brain swelling, severed main artery in the neck, crushed & degloved face, several broken ribs, paralyzed arm, shattered scapula, broken clavicle, broken humerus, broken radius & ulna, with an open wound and a 7.5 piece of bone missing, amputated thumb, torn fingers, 5 nerves torn out of the spinal cord…. not my funnest day on set,”

--- Olivia Jackson, 34 years old

It was such a bad day to a stuntwoman like her after a motorbike accident on the set of the forthcoming ‘Resident Evil’ movie, 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’, unexpectedly happened. As a result, she was put in a two-week medically induced coma to treat her fatal and severe injuries she sustained. But still despite of all what happened that put her life at stake, she is still happy and thankful for having luckily survived.

Olivia is a South African born stuntwoman who also appeared in many known movies such as "The Force Awakens’, 'Guardians of the Galaxy’ and 'Mad Max: Fury Road’.

Indeed miracles really happen. The mere fact that we still wake up everyday and still given the chance to enjoy life are enough evidence.

Cool Mom @ 70

Whenever we pass by their residence at Camella Naga, we usually see her busy with something such as fixing their lawn in their front yard or sometimes relaxing outside with her husband in one cozy afternoon. At her age, she is still brisky and agile. Ramona Sinagpulo or Tiya Moning as what she is fondly called remains as strong and healthy mother, grandmother, and wife to her children, grandchildren, and husband respectively. She has just turned seventy years old,

Tiya Moning, a retired public school teacher who taught for more than two decades at Penalosa Elementary School in Malaking Ilog, San Pascual, Masbate, had dedicated most of her life as an educator. Her long, challenging, and fruitful years as a passionate school teacher were devoted in imparting knowledge and skills to the young generations who, most of them, are already professionals and making names in their chosen careers.

She and her husband Ruben Sinagpulo or Tiyo Ruben, also a retired public school teacher like her, painstakingly and patiently raised professionals among their children -Jin-Jin and Ryan, professional nurses abroad; Marites and Juvy, professional teachers in San Pascual, Masbate; Ai-Ai, a calle center supervisor and Jalyn, a businesswoman - and this is one of their greatest achievements in life which they are proud and grateful of.

Presently, she and her family reside at Camella Naga, a gated and secure subdivision in Barangay Del Rosario, Naga City. From time to time, they go home to their place in San Pascual, Masbate for some personal concerns. As a retired professional, she is enjoying the fruit of her endeavor together with Tiyo Ruben, her loving and faithful husband

Warmth greetings of happiness were extended on her birthday and wishing her many more birthdays in the future. Tiya Moning continues to inspire others in her own little ways as she were then as a teacher, Life has still many wonderful things to offer and enjoy with our family, our precious treasure in the world. Life begins at 40 and continues beyond 70..

Mount Mayon

Sea shells by the shore, friendly waves going ashore, blue-colored seas afar, they become meaningful in my eyes as I face her with awe. Majestic, astounding, perfect, beautiful, what else can I describe her. She is just an enchanting God's creation that is worthy a treasure.
Anyone who could have her would surely be the richest man on Earth. But no need to be unrealistic only to experience the peace of mind that she gives to anyone who gazes her.
I cannot help myself but adore this beautiful grace from above for she is simply beautiful, almost perfect at any angle. Wish I were a cloud that embraces her everyday, a wind that kisses her entirety. Undeniably, she is always a good subject and a classic theme that never go out of trend.
Clouds may cover her entirely sometimes but this does not dwindle my passion to see and appreciate her beauty and majesty. According to experts, she is at least 20,000 years old, but still the youngest among her contemporaries. Indeed, Mount Mayon is a gift that every bicolano in Albay should be grateful and proud of.

Regrets, anxiety, anger

Time really flies so fast that i am unmindful of what is happening around me. I am too engrossed with what keep me busy - work, school, home. These have divided my attention and focus almost equally that I have no time for other concerns. This is why I should not wonder about the changes in my environment which almost of them have passed unnoticed - most of them are good, but some are not.

My bestfriend has just turned three decades old and six summers. My old time partner in most of my endeavors and adventures in life, my comrade in times of failure and success, the uncomplaining and patient listener of my stories no matter how trivial or uninteresting they may be sometimes, will, in a few months from now, be settling down with someone whom I have no chance of knowing personally.

My favorite dog, Normie, has just given birth to four lovely puppies. Her cute and chubby little pets would someday join her in guarding my house all day and night as what she usually does. They are new additional ones in the family, animals which I treat as human who has feelings, moods and emotions.

My newly- bought house needs treatment to save it from damaging termites. If left unattended, these tiny pests will surely undermine the wooden portion and structure of my home. My luck would turn to be the other way around should I fail to take immediate action.

My car loan is already nearing full payment. For almost five years of patiently going to the bank to fund my savings account where my monthly amortization is debited, such painstaking effort will soon come to an end, something for me to be grateful.
And most of all, my girlfriend is pregnant... yeheey! I should be celebrating a milestone in my life for having a baby soon at last. But this is something to be sorry about for it is as worst as a nightmare for me.

It is not because she is not yet ready to be a mom or that I am not yet prepared to be a dad, but something that I cannot take in my entire life, something I cannot consider either as a blessing or an answered prayer nor something that I can consider as destiny. But rather a curse and a bad luck molded into one. An unacceptable fact of knowing that my beloved partner will soon have a baby not my own.

What is up for me this new year?

The future is unpredictable, but with some assumptions of what they may be can help a lot in realizing what we want to happen in our life.
In my career, I see more positive outcomes of my hardwork. It is something that will save me from different kinds of burden I have at present. With patience and optimism, I see a bright year ahead.
In school, I see good things to happen - more challenging, but fruitful learning with teachers and fellow students and more activities to participate in that will surely widen one's horizon and stretch out one's small world.
At home, I see harmony and peaceful relationship with family members - No more intense misunderstanding, but rather meekness and understanding.
Thus, for these things to happen, I promise to double my effort to reach our yearly aim at work, to balance work and school at all costs, and to have quality time with my loved ones at the same time.
New year resolutions are still important matters to consider in living life for the upcoming year. These will help smooth out the road we are traversing as peace of mind at any point in our time is a key to prolonged happiness that we may have to enjoy this 2016.

Honest Harvey

It takes an honest and brave man to correct his mistake. Steve Harvey, the pageant emcee, may have unintentionally mixed up the names of winners for the Miss Universe Pageant, but at least, he was courageous enough to rectify it at the soonest time possible. Had he not, we couldn't have a Filipina Miss Universe this very moment. He must have learned his lesson from the incident.
There are a lot of people including me who appreciate his instantaneous effort of addressing his shortcomings by correcting his mistake, putting things in order and apologizing to the concerned parties afterward.
Committing mistake is one of the frailties of man and no one is spared from this truth. Anyway, let us all be happy for another milestone in Philippine history as we congratulate our dearly own Pia Wurtzbach, the Miss Universe 2015 after 42 years.

Someone Special on Christmas

Few more days to go before Christmas, are you all excited as me? Why does this occasion excite me anyway?
It is not those christmas lights that blink all night at home - I myself painstakingly arranged them in the most creative way I thought of.
It is not those gifts properly displayed around my christmas tree - I patiently wrapped them until the wee hours of the morning for my loved ones.
It is not those foods that bunch together inside my decade-old refrigerator - I gradually gathered them since two months ago in preparation for the Christmas Eve.
It is neither the bonus and incentives that I will receive before the special occasion comes - I earned them through my hardwork for almost a year.
But rather, It is the feeling of excitement of seeing a special someone coming home this Christmas. A fulfillment of a promise to stay and make my Christmas and New Year meaningful than ever before.
It has been so long a time that I haven't embraced her and more than half a decade since she kissed me. I could not even remember the last time we laughed and cried together amidst the challenges and blessings that came our way. Nothing really excites and completes me this yuletide season than my dear mother coming home.

Hey Dude, I am Gay

If you think I am a serious guy, then you are wrong. I am a lighthearted individual who is cheerful and carefree. I smile and laugh a lot whenever I am with other people. I like men for I feel at home with them and they are usually as excited as me to talk about many things under the sun.
I am boisterous whenever I talk and given the chance to speak, so excited about the world and too eager to tell many things about it with other people in a lively and animated way.
Carefree really I am for I never heed and get affected with what other people who don't know me yet might think and say.
But there is still shyness deep inside myself for I can say that I am still humble not to brag about my greatest achievements in life as I want the ones who have gotten the chance of witnessing my adventure and endeavor to tell them themselves in their own perspective to those who are interested.
I am gay - a cheerful, lighthearted, and carefree person and not the other meaning of the word that you might have thought it to be.

Christmas Party

Adorned with a black-colored curtain and strings of lights vertically hanging, the stage background seemed simple but creative. On its foreground were the showcase of appliances and bundles of various gifts aesthetically wrapped which await the lucky ones for the later raffle draws. Up above it were elegant chandeliers with lights brightly illuminating the spacious area that can accommodate more than a hundred of guests. Beverages of different sorts and colors were properly displayed to beguile anyone who passed by. As the start of the event drew near, the atmosphere was getting exciting.

At last the event finally started and the night was bursting with merriment as group presentations and games ruled the place for a few hours. Laughter was inevitable and contagious. Prizes and awards became the focus of everyone to acquire. The invited networks gradually filled up the tables reserved for them. Everybody was enjoying the activities as the well-prepared program was followed and conducted by the masters of the ceremony. It was simply a night of unending entertainment dedicated to all sales networks and performers for the year 2015.

Oozing with energy, the participants for network presentations gave their best performance for the night as they vie to win the first place. Colorful costumes brightened the dim stage as dancers started to show off their skills and talents in the dance floor. The audience were fascinated by the satisfactory performance of different networks; They can't help but scream as breathtaking stunts were performed.

As the announcement of winners was temporary and intentionally delayed to give way for other activities on the program, New games further enlivened the occasion such as identifying the correct titles of songs interpreted by selected singers using animal sounds. It was a mind-blowing and breaking guessing game as everyone attentively listened to the singer interpreting every song in different way. It was but a challenging and difficult round but everyone enjoyed it. Finally, a certain group emerged as winner.

Laughter filled the air as green and wholesome jokes with funny gestures were thrown by the emcees to break the inevitable mid-air silence. Such style made generally the program more entertaining, cozy and less formal.

Good and top sales performers were recognized but their awarding is slated on different but special date for this competition has not ended yet. Thus, other groups are still given ample time to be part of the group of awardees next year.

As sumptuous dinner was served, everyone had the chance to socialize with one another. The food was delicious and healthy - a plate of meal consisted of vegetables and less-fat meat cooked tenderly with fruits and some delicacies added. Of course drinks were served from juices to less intoxicating liquors.

This event is regularly done every year and during Christmas season; It usually starts with some entertainment, games and raffle draws and ends with gift giving where everyone is given Christmas presents courtesy of the developer hosting the event. It is their way of giving back the blessings they have received throughout the year through the painstaking effort of patient but professional practitioners like us, their business partners.

Christmas is near, are you ready?

Christmas day is always the most exciting event that happens once in a year. Every family member is present and excited to celebrate this day meaningfully. As foods are merrily prepared, everyone does his or her share in the task to fill the whole house with yuletide ambiance. Little children usually gather around the Christmas tree excited for the gifts prepared for them to be opened at exactly twelve midnight. But more than a celebration, it is the great time when a family shares the love and care for each other.

In far flung areas where poverty lingers, Christmas is just an ordinary day to celebrate. As usual, the father strives to earn something for his family. The wife budgets the money usually alotted for foods and other needs for the day. When Christmas Eve comes, an ordinary preparation such as what is left during their dinner is done while the whole family gathers around their wooden table and a festive mood occurs after reciting their prayer of thanksgiving. It is not really how they celebrate it, but how they become united and complete again as a family when Christmas comes that counts.

Now I say I am ready to celebrate this with my family even without that grandious firecrackers and sumptous foods around. Simple preparation is enough to trigger happiness and meaningful Christmas day. It does not matter how simple the preparation is. The most important is that, as a family, we are complete and loving each other during this special ocassion and beyond. The spirit of Christmas is always love and to share it with oth

Simbang Tabi

Whenever you go to church during the days for Misa de Gallo (Simbang Gabi), it is always presumed by anyone who sees you that you will be there to hear mass as a religious person. But sometimes this presumption is not true to all as there are many people mostly teens do so not really for religious but personal purpose - to be with their boyfriends or girlfriends or friends.

As you enter the vicinity of the church you will wonder why there are youngsters outside the church usually sitting or standing in pairs or in groups on the church sides obviously far from hearing the priest's sermon. They apparently don't listen to the mass going on but rather busy chatting with eachother sometimes noisily. Meanwhile, the side and dark portion of the church seem to be the favorite of young lovers.

Simbang Gabi is a religious activity intended to those who want to observe the nine-day novena which starts on December 16 up to Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, this become an opportunity for young lovers and group of friends to relax, enjoy, and socialize with each other which are not the intentions why such activity was created. But everyone of us has freedom to socialize and as long as we don't violate some laws, attending early masses is surely not prohibited whether you really want to hear the mass or not.

Mount Mayon

Sea shells by the shore, friendly waves going ashore, blue-colored seas afar, they become meaningful in my eyes as I face her with awe. Majestic, astounding, perfect, beautiful, what else can I describe her. She is just an enchanting God's creation that is worthy a treasure.
Anyone who could have her would surely be the most richest man on Earth. But no need to be unrealistic only to experience the peace of mind that she gives to anyone who gazes her.

I'm Simply Poor

I don't care about what is happening around the world for I have to take care of myself first. I don't really give a damn on other things.

I don't have any problem at all. I have a lot of cars to choose from everyday should I want to go somewhere else. When I am hungry, foods are just there around my kitchen and backyard - i can cook and eat them anytime i want to. With what I have, I need security. But I believe that my long firearms and sophisticated ammunition will take care of me for sure.

My house may look like a shanty - really it is - but my heart is not. I can say it is a mansion full of love. Just come and i will give you more than you ever need. Indeed inside, I am complete with all the gadgets and appliances in vogue,

I may look really like a nasty filthy beggar, but of course i am not for one thing: I never beg. I have more than enough money for myself and even for others. Remember, sometimes i need to pretend being such lest that evil-minded people would know how rich I am and take advantage of me later.

I am happy being me - simple and nearly never wanting for anything more. I am almost contented of what i have and all the excess that I may have, well, it's for me to decide whether to give it or not.

But why am I poor? I may have all the things in the world but I am not that happy at all. There is still an important thing that i must have to complete me as a person and as a human ever created by Him.I have lots of love to give but I have not found the one to share it forever

A Few Simple Things To Be Happy

Happiness is just a state of mind. Think happiness and you'll feel happy. But it could be better if other people see you smile as if problems are just too easy for you to handle. How you are comfortable with yourself, how you view things in the morning, how you relate with other people, and how you control yourself in some things contribute to your everyday happiness.

First is personal hygiene. Taking a bath in the morning makes one feel comfortable not just with oneself but in mingling with others too. It takes away bad vibes and makes you think positively. Good body smell makes other people comfortable with you. Where is happiness there? The mere fact that you are comfortable with yourself and no negative comments about your personal hygiene from the people you encounter with are enough. It further boosts your self-confidence.

Second is positive thinking. Problems are man's daily companions but they have solutions. Always think that God is always with you to help you settle your shortcomings in life. They must not prevent you from being a happy person of the day. Difficult it may seem but it is possible to smile at your difficulties in life, but never leave them unsettled for it may worsen without you noticing it. Being pessimistic from the time you wake up can surely ruin the rest of your day.

Third is action. Can you be happy the whole day by just sitting at your favorite chair? Of course not unless you are a computer or television addict to name a few. If you have work, then do it wholeheartedly with a smile. You can chat with your mates from time to time about some good news, but not all the time for you might neglect your responsibilities. Remember, we are social beings - we never live alone. Sometimes going out with friends can be one of your most stress-releasing activities. Though drinking is inevitable, do it socially and moderately. Remember, you are there to enjoy and not to be a drunkard and a burden to your colleagues.

Finally, self-control. Too much of something is bad like over eating and drinking. Also, uncontrolled temper over issues with other people can surely create another big problem that can entirely ruin your day. So, calm yourself down and be a good listener if you want others to listen to you, too.

So be happy. It is free, It is all up to you to be. No need to spend a lot of money for some little things can brighten your day. But of course, if you have some budget for something you like, go for it. Anyway, money can be earned and not a problem to those who are hardworking.

Crush or Crash

Everyone is excited about going back to school (really?) for at last, he/she will once again meet old and new friends. But one of the most exciting things of returning to school is seeing your crush. Yes, your crush not mine.

To many, college life is the time when you meet the person you admire most either because he/she is handsome or beautiful, intelligent, smart, among others. Soon, you become lovers.Being in-love with a person special to you is normal; it happens to many of us. Such phenomenon makes our dull life alive, colorful, wonderful, and many more. It oftentimes enlivens one's life and even gives it more meaning and a clear direction.

But too much time for it is fatal to one's education. There are times when some lovers prefer to be with each other most of the time not minding whether too much of companionship already sacrifices the quality time they spend for studying. Worst, they end up giving more preference to their relationship than to their education. Thus, some unexpected things happen - oftentimes, teenage pregnancy and young parenthood. And when these things happen, that is usually the end of everyone's dream and ambition in life for a more important one needing more of one's time and effort has inevitably come - family life.

Education nowadays is very important (and everybody knows that) for it determines one's success in life. As long as you are given the chance to be in school studying, grab every opportunity to learn. Your crush is just there who must be made an inspiration, not a destruction; a source of encouragement and not the other way around. See our crushes this opening of classes and may they help us overcome the challenges that education and school await us.

Another Filipino Ingenuity

A motorcycle with a customized passenger seat is plying along highway and streets. Its long seat made of horizontal iron bars runs across the driver and passenger sides of the motorcycle in equal distance. It can accommodate at least four passengers evenly distributed on both sides. The passengers sit in balance until they arrive at their destination.

Of course, it has a roof to protect its fare from heavy rains or against the blazing sun. Well, It has no other extra wheels or posts underneath its seat to support it from overturning should most of the passengers' total weight lean to either sides.

Indeed, the comfort and safety of the passengers rely on how skillful the driver is in balancing and maneuvering this incredible vehicle.

Left Alone Amidst A Typhoon

Heavy rains now begin. Too cold to go out. No raincoat, umbrella or whatsoever to protect me. My car is well parked anyway. I will just spend the rest of the evening here in the office. No brownouts, free wifi, foods and drinks, what else will I ask for?

Thanks boss for this wonderful accommodations; hope you come over. I don't have anybody with me here except this costly computer set.

The wind blows heavy outside. From here I can see how it sways the trees at Plaza Quezon and Trese Marteres. Still many people are around despite the heavy rains. Well, this is what makes Naga different from other cities in Bicol, business is still alive regardless of bad weather. But I know, they will close as soon as the situation deteriorates. It's signal no. 3 still; heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected until the early hours of the morning.

So what shall I do next? Well, i'll just enjoy whatever is in here. It's a wonderful feeling when you relax in the middle of a typhoon while others are tensed about the unfavorable weather condition.

Typhoons

One typhoon is enough to scare us especially if its rains are strong for an inundation and its winds are damaging enough for a catastrophe. But nevertheless it tests how prepared our government is in addressing this vital concern and and stir our bayanihan spirit amidst the harsh weather condition.

But Mother Nature seems not contented with Her challenge to us Filipinos as another two more typhoons are expected and in fact, sighted to enter our jurisdiction soon.

Well, let us continue praying and hoping that no matter how regular calamities strike us, we remain calm and united as a nation undefeatable by challenges of any sort. As strong and resilient as a bamboo tree, we may have stumbled and fallen but we rise and fight over and over again not only for ourselves but especially to our families as well.

Simbang Gabi

I am not used to wake up too early in the morning just to hear mass for I usually do it not for any such reason other than to jog and make my body fit. But this time, I have been doing so to complete the nine days of Simbang Gabi, a promise to keep and fulfill for the birthday of my trusted and most generous friend, Jesus Christ.

The cold morning breeze dampens my face as I walk going to church with others who are also patiently fighting the temptation of lingering in bed in this cold and chilling weather.

The crowd of people inside the church at least warms up the surroundings, usually enough to take my thick sweater off lest that I perspire profusely.

The mass is well-celebrated by priests whose inspiring sermons strike everyone's heart and sometimes stir some emotions that make many people like me to silently cry or loudly laugh.

Indeed, Simbang Gabi is not just a tradition to observe but an act of thanksgiving for the hope of salvation that Jesus Christ, our loving and truthful friend, shared with us on the cross.

Foods Everywhere

After seriously listening from the priest's sermon early morning today, my stomach crumbled and my toungue wanted some tasty delicacies. Now, how about gratifying my taste buds with cozy things like the ones being vended along the way? Sounds great isn't?

 PUTO BOMBONG

BIBINGKA

HOT CHOCOLATE

As early as the church opens its door to churchgoers, vendors nearby carefully set forth and arrange their enticing foods along the road. It's like a fiesta ambiance as people choose and pick their native favorites like ibos, butong, Puto bumbong and bibingka. Of course, eating them will not be complete without a sip of hot sweet and aromatic chocolate.

To businessminded people, Simbang gabi is an earning opportunity to grab. Well it's good anyway for at least i don't have anything to think of but to pay what my belly has sumptuously consumed.

Indeed, the daily homily I listen to from the church enriches my spirit, and the foods I satisfy myself with after that further enliven my body as well.

Dreaming Again

She walked into my life unexpectedly. Not even my conscience could tell that I dreamt and longed for this woman. She may be the Helen of Troy of my life, the most beautiful one ever to come and seriously love me in my lifetime.

The most sexiest woman, the most gorgeous of all. Every beholder's eye could tell how lucky I am to have her as my unyielding stalker. Most of the time she stealthily follows me wherever I go and I hate it.
I even lambasts her whenever she embraces me in public and this lovely gal would just cry silently while following me.

She always tells me how she loves and cares for me and how lucky she is to have met me. She even would kneel before me and beg my mercy to love her. But I simply ignore her.

I only give my love to someone I like but not for her no matter how beautiful she is. I am not that cheap and easy to get you know.

Then suddenly a freewheeling slap landed on my face. It was so terrible that it almost set my body and soul apart.

Then a familiar voice keeps nagging at me - my wife, the monster in human form. Now I am back to reality.
